The location for the 2018 World University Championships in Wushu has changed to Macao, and the date is now August 2 through 5, 2018. Sifu Bryant Fong will take a team of wushu and sanda competitors.
Wushu entered the programme of the FISU World University Championships officially in 2014. This is a competitive event for any students of college age.
Congratulations to the USA team that traveled to the Summer Universiade games in Taiwan! Emily Fan became the first American to win a medal in wushu, receiving a bronze for her excellent performances with spear and straight sword. Isiah Ray Enriquez also won a bronze, in the 52-kilogram men’s category of sanda, becoming the first American to medal on the international level.

Sifu Fong is leading the American team to the Taiwan University Games in 2017, but donations are sorely needed. This will be the first time that tai chi or Chinese wushu will be officially part of an Olympic-related event, but they will not be able to participate if funds are not available.
The team of eight students will travel to Taipei in August, 2017 and compete in both forms and fighting. Funds of $15,000 are needed by the end of this year to support the team.
All donations are tax-deductible (501c3) and should be made out to the National Chinese Wushu Association of America. Checks may be mailed to the organization at the following address:
PO Box 210159
San Francisco, California 94121-0159
Donations of $1000 or more will receive a special gift from Sifu Bryant Fong! More details to follow. T-shirts for lower levels of donations will be available later this fall.
Sifu Bryant Fong will be leading a team of athletes to the 29th Summer University Olympic Games on August 24th, 2017. Donations are needed before April 1, 2016 to secure a place at the competition. Please contact Sifu Bryant Fong if you are interested in a sponsorship for Team USA.
Tryouts will be held at CMAT on March 12, 2016. Since this is a university-focused competition, athletes must be between the ages of 15-25, and either have been accepted to college or be in college by August 24, 2017.
The 2016 Chinese Martial Arts Tournament at U.C. Berkeley will be held on March 12, 2016, at the RSF Field House. For registration and more information, visit the official CMAT 2016 site or the CalWushu Facebook page.
